    Maltese dragonflies 2 weeks ago

    Quite a few around on Malta , at least they weren't shooting them! 1st female long skimmer Orthetrum trinacria ? saw lots of males. 2nd male Black Pennant Selysiothemis nigra ? Both seen on a dry rocky headland with no water.

    A patch 1m across has come up of these in my garden. Are they Oyster mushrooms? It's quite a wooded area.

    We found these holes in our lawn yesterday morning . There are about 50 of them mostly on the edge of the pond . And no it wasn't the coot its plastic ! Blackbird , rook , jackdaw ?

    Lost Purple emperor

    A friend of a friend asked me to identify this butterfly they photographed in their kitchen. Not a bad house tick. It was somewhere near Aylesbury in an old oak wood.

    Two from Egypt 40km inland of Marsa Alam

    Both seen in a big dry wadi near Cleopatra's temple. The geko is upside down , it was on the cave roof. I was guessing at Acanthodactylus boskianus and Ptyodactylus hasselquistii
