Asia: found in Russia, Siberia, Mongolia, China, Korea, Japan and Taiwan
Southeast Asia: Indochina and Myanmar

Subspecies

There are 3 subspecies^[1]:

• E. e. elegans:

• Manchuria and northern Korea; winters to southern Korea, southern Japan and eastern China

• E. e. ticehursti:

• Eastern Amurland; winters to southern Manchuria to Shandong Province

• E. e. elegantula:

• Mountains of south-western China; winters to north-eastern Myanmar

Ticehursti is not recognised by all authorities^[2].

Forests and forest edges, woodland, scrub orchards and agricultural areas
