Identification
Rust coloured underparts, sometimes spotted or barred white. Grey-brown facial disk, yellow eyes, grey beak and white eyebrows. The belly is creamy and unmarked, giving the appearance of a young owl.

Behaviour
Nocturnal, roosting during the day.
