Amaurornis magnirostris

30.5 cm. Dark brown head and upperparts, dark blue grey underparts and flanks, pale green large, thick bill, yellow legs becoming more olive at the rear.

Talaud Islands in the Moluccas (Indonesia).

Formerly placed within Plain Bush-hen, (A. olivacea) and retained there by some authors. Reference [1] suggests that voice is more or less identical and plumage very similar to the slightly smaller nominate form of the latter from the Philippines.

A monotypic species.

Forest, scrub, and overgrown plantations.
