  • Black head, neck and upperparts
  • White forehead
  • Brownish-black remiges and greater upper-wing-­coverts


South-east Asia: found in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.



There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • P. b. caudata:
  • P. b. bivittata:


Mountain forests and sub-alpine shrubland.



Their diet consists almost entirely of insects which are caught aerially.
