- Sturnus unicolor
Identification
Black with a purple gloss, shaggy plumage. In winter they develop pale spots on the flanks and mantle. Bright pink legs. Young birds are dull brown.
Distribution
Spain, Portugal, France, Sardinia, and Sicily.
Taxonomy
Habitat
Open grassy areas and areas of human habitation from towns to farm buildings.
Behaviour
They nest in holes in buildings or trees and cliff crevices. 4 eggs are laid.
The diet includes invertebrates, scraps and berries.
