Tiaris fuliginosus

Identification

Male is sooty black; female is dull olive brown above and brighter olive-brown below moving to whitish in the centre of the belly.

Distribution

Colombia, northern and south eastern Venezuela, Trinidad, Guiana, and eastern Brazil.

Taxonomy

Monotypic.
The scientific name has been spelled fuliginosa in the past.

Habitat

Forest and woodland edges as well as clearings and grassy scrub.
