Identification

Distribution

India, Iran, and Pakistan.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
Hybrids with Syrian Woodpecker occur rarely.

Habitat

Dry lowland forests.

Behaviour

Diet

Feeds on ants and larvae of wood-boring beetles.
