Identification

10–10·5 cm (4-4¼ in) Tail-less,

  • Pale pink legs
  • Olive-brown upperparts
  • Buff loral spot and eyering
  • White throat
  • White crescent on chest
  • Reddish-buff underparts
  • White undertail coverts

Distribution

South America: found in Colombia and Venezuela.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • G. f. rara:
  • G. f. ferrugineipectus :
  • Santa Marta Mountains (north-eastern Colombia) and mountains of northern Venezuela

Habitat

They are found in the undergrowth of humid montane forests.

Behaviour

Diet

Their main diet consists of insects.

Breeding

They builds a shallow cup shaped nest of twigs and 2 pale green-grey, brown-marked eggs are laid.
