Identification
9-10cm. Grey head and nape with a brown back becoming cinnamon-rufous on the rump and tail. Underparts are cinnamon. Buff throat. Sexes are similar.
Distribution
Mexico, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and the Guianas.
Taxonomy
Habitat
Humid forest and secondary woodland.
Behaviour
The female builds a pear-shaped nest of plant fibres and leaves with a side entrance, suspended from a twig or vine. 2 chocolate-blotched white eggs are incubated by the female for 15-16 days.
The diet includes insects, especially leafhoppers, picked from foliage or taken in the air.
