Identification
Distribution
South America
brachyura: found in eastern Colombia to the Guianas, Amazonian Brazil and northern Bolivia
ignota: found in eastern Panama to western Colombia and north-western Ecuador
Taxonomy
In the form presented in Opus, Pygmy Antwren includes two subspecies, brachyura and ignota. A split of Moustached Antwren (=Colombian Antwren) Myrmotherula ignota from Pygmy Antwren has been proposed and is currently recognized by the Clements Checklist[1] but not by Howard & Moore; Moustached Antwren would include Short-billed Antwren Myrmotherula obscura as a subspecies.

This species tends to fourage high towards the canopy while Plain-throated Antwren fourage low, at least if both species are present.
