Identification
54–61 cm (21¼-24 in)
- Black crest about 8cm long, consisting of 4-5 feathers
- Brown head
Distribution
Endemic to the Philippines where found on Negros, Samar, Mindanao, Bohol, Biliran, Basilan, and Siquijor.
Taxonomy
A monotypic species, formerly considered a subspecies of Philippine Hawk-Eagle.
Habitat
They are found in mature lowland forests and montane mossy forests.
Behaviour
Diet
There is little detailed information available. They probably eat birds; hunting from a concealed perch in the canopy.
