Identification

11.5cm

  • Olive green (the male being more strongly coloured around the head)
  • Orange to dark yellow bib
  • Long stripe from the beak to the 'ear' both above and below the eye
  • Black bib below and surrounding the orange bib

Female: Paler and lacks the black bib

Distribution

South America: found locally in the Andes from Colombia to Ecuador and south-eastern Peru.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.

Placed in genus Lysurus by some authorities.

Habitat

Cloud forest..
