Lysurus castaneiceps

Identification

11.5cm . Olive green throughout, the male has more extensive and stronger colouration around its head. Orange/dark yellow bib, long stripe from the beak to the “ear” both above and below the eye, black bib below and surrounding the orange bib. The female lacks the black bib, and her markings are very reduced and more yellow as compared to those of the male.

Distribution

Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Mexico, the Greater Antilles, Central America to western Venezuela.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
Placed in genus Lysurus by some authorities.
