Taxonomy
The well-defined subspecies may represent 2 species: "Timor Oriole" (O. melanotis) and "Wetar Oriole" (O. finschi). Two subspecies are recognized [1]. These may represent 2 different species:
- O. m. melanotis: "Timor Oriole". Eastern Lesser Sundas (Rote, Timor and Semau)
- O. m. finschi: "Wetar Oriole". Wetar (eastern Lesser Sundas)
Habitat
Dry forests and mangrove forests.
