Mellby Orr �land, Sweden


This small island connected to the east coast of Oland is known as a breeding site of Ruff, Avocet and Black Tern but also attracts many passage waders in autumn. The area is reached by a track east from the village of Mellby and the southern tip is the most productive area.

Pied Avocet, Ringed Plover, Golden Plover, Grey Plover, Red Knot, Sanderling, Curlew Sandpiper, Dunlin, Ruff, Bar-tailed Godwit, Whimbrel, Eurasian Curlew, Spotted Redshank, Common Redshank, Greenshank, Black Tern
