Identification
21 cm
Almost uniform rufous-brown with more orange tint to underside and white throat band. Eyes are dark.
Distribution
Southern Solomon Islands (Bauro and Makira)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
One of four species formerly viewed as a single species, Solomons Boobook.
Habitat
Forests in lowlands and foothills up to 900 m asl.
Behaviour
Mostly nocturnal but behavior is poorly known.
Vocalisation
A series of deep notes that can last for minutes.
