Identification

Distribution

Himalayas and north-east India to south-east Asia and Indonesia.

Taxonomy

Two subspecies are known: sparverioides and bocki; the latter has sometimes been viewed as a full species, Dark Hawk-cuckoo. Some authorities place this species in genus Hierococcyx.
