- Alcedo euryzona
Identification
20 cm. Male - blackish upperparts, silvery-azure streak from mantle to rump, white neck-flash with rufous tip, white throat, pale rufous underparts, blue band across chest. Female - rich rufous underparts, no breast-band.
Distribution
Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, Kalimantan, Sumatra and Java.
Taxonomy
There are 2 subspecies:

- A e peninsulae
Habitat
Rocky streams and rivers in forests and mangroves.
Behaviour
The diet includes crustaceans, insects and small reptiles.
