Contopus hispaniolensis

Identification

15–16 cm (6-6¼ in); Shaped as a typical Pewee

  • Wing bars are inconspicuous or absent
  • Dark greyish olive upperparts
  • Darker crown
  • Somewhat paler underparts
  • Grey throat

Similar species

Greater Antillean Elaenia has prominent wing bars, white supraloral, and if displaying white central crown feathers, but it is surprisingly similar in shape.

Distribution

Caribbean: endemic to Hispaniola = Haiti + Dominican Republic
