Identification
15–16 cm (6-6¼ in); Shaped as a typical Pewee
- Wing bars are inconspicuous or absent
- Dark greyish olive upperparts
- Darker crown
- Somewhat paler underparts
- Grey throat
Similar species
Greater Antillean Elaenia has prominent wing bars, white supraloral, and if displaying white central crown feathers, but it is surprisingly similar in shape.
Distribution
Caribbean: endemic to Hispaniola = Haiti + Dominican Republic

Habitat
A variety of forest types from sea level to 2000 m asl including dry, humid broadleaf, and pine forests, but most numerous in the latter habitat.
Behaviour
Diet
Eats some fruit but much more insects, usually caught by sallying from a perch to the flying insect and frequently returning to the same perch.
Breeding
Breeding season often concentrated around March to June. Nest is a cup, often 3-5 m up in a tree.
