Urochroa leucura

Identification

13-14 cm.

  • Black, long, straight bill
  • Bronzy green upperparts
  • Buffy malar streak, not very pronounced
  • Iridescent blue throat and breast
  • Dull grey belly
  • Bronzy central tail feathers, the rest are white with dusky grey on outer web

Sexes similar, females probably slightly duller than males. Juveniles like adults but with buff fringes on head feathers.

Distribution

East slope of Andes from southern Colombia (Nariño) to eastern Ecuador (south at least to Morona-Santiago) and northern Peru (Amazonas, San Martín)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].
