- Andigena hypoglauca
Identification
Length 43-45cm. Prominent gray breast, which extends as a ring around the neck. Head and eye are black. Upper back and shoulders are chestnut, with dark olive wings and upper tail. Yellow rump, red crissum, chestnut tip on tail. Bill is a gaudy bright red on top with a yellow band extending from the upper to the lower mandible. A small slash of blue and yellow just in front of the eye completes decoration of the bill. The bill is small compared to the that of the well-known tropical toucans of other genera (e.g. the Chestnut-mandibled Toucan).
Similar Species
Black-billed Mountain-Toucan - occurs at lower elevations, and has an all-dark bill and other coloration differences. Plate-billed Mountain-Toucan - occurs on western slope of the Andes.

Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru

Two subspecies are recognized:[1]
Habitat
Canopy and borders of moist forest on the east side of the Andean crest. Occupies a narrow elevation band (in Ecuador from 2500-3300m.)
Behaviour
Diet is fruit. Occurs frequently in pairs. More secretive that the other mountain-toucans.
