Identification

25cm.

  • Black above
  • Yellow buff underparts with black streaks
  • Red vent
  • Large white scapular patches
  • White barred flight feathers and tail sides
  • Yellow sides to the neck
  • White cheeks
  • Long black moustachial stripe
  • Male has red nape patch
  • Long bill

Distribution

Himalayas of Nepal to Szechwan and Myanmar, Bhutan, China, India, and Vietnam.
