Distribution

Central and South America
Central America: found only in Panama
South America: Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Peru and Brazil.

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • P. r. juruanus:
  • South-eastern Ecuador to eastern Peru (Loreto) and western Brazil (south-western Amazonas)
  • P. r. rufus:

Habitat

Lowland moist forests and dry shrubland.

Behaviour

Breeding

The nest is ball shaped, made from grass, and placed in the fork of a tree.
