Bonasa sewerzowi

Identification

34cm. Rufous upperparts with broad black bars, chestnut upper breast, black throat bordered white, white patch behind eye, barred tail.

Distribution

Central and south-west China and eastern Tibet.

Taxonomy

There are 2 subspecies.

Habitat

Birch and coniferous mountain forest.

Behaviour

They build a nest from moss and grass; 5-8 white eggs are laid.

The diet includes spruce seeds, buds, leaves, flowers, and shoots.
