Identification
Pale grey cap and upper back, darker grey and white lower back and tail, white underparts, black eye stripe.
Distribution
North China, North Korea, South Korea, Japan, Mongolia, and Russia.
Taxonomy
There are 2 subspecies. Tibetan Grey Shrike - Lanius sphenocercus giganteus
Habitat
Temperate forests.
Behaviour
They build a large nest from twigs and grasses, placed in a tree; 4-5 eggs are laid and incubated by the female for 16-17 days.
The diet includes small rodents and large insects.
