Location: Monumento Natural Lahuen Nadi, near Puerto Montt, Chile.

11-13cm. Glossy blue-black upperparts, white underparts and rump, grey underwing-coverts.

Chile, south-west Argentina migrating to Bolivia, Paraguay and south-east Brazil.

Monotypic.

Open habitats near water, temperate grassland and pastureland.
