Identification
28-29 cm (11-11½ in), slender and long tailed bird
- Brownish grey plumage
- Broad white supercilium
- Dark eyeline
- White throat bordered by 2 dark stripes
- Buff-grey breast
- Streaked flanks
- Dark grey bill and legs
Distribution
South America: endemic to Central Chile (Atacama to Valdivia).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Dry shrubland, scrubby areas, farmland and forest edge to 2200m and urban areas.
Behaviour
Conspicuous in its behavior, both when singing from an open perch and otherwise.
Diet
There is little information available. They forage mostly on the ground and in foliage up to around 3 m. Their diet probably consists of insects and fruit.
