Chestnut-vented Tit-babbler, Chestnut-vented Warbler

Identification

14-15 cm. Grey brown upperparts, black tail with a broad white band at its tip, white eye ring, grey throat is with heavy dark streaking, grey breast and belly, and the vent area is bright chestnut. Black legs and grey eyes. The sexes are similar, but the juvenile has an unstreaked throat.

Distribution

Angola, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho, Mozambique and Swaziland.

Taxonomy

Habitat

Scrub, thickets and dry riverbeds.

Behaviour

It builds a cup shaped nest in low vegetation.

Its diet includes insects and small invertebrates.
