Distribution

Locally in central Africa
Western Africa: Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, DRC and Angola
Eastern Africa: Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies^[1]:

• S. l. lugens:

• Cameroon to Zaire and western Tanzania

• S. l. lynesi:

• Angola to Zambia and Zimbabwe

An additional subspecies modesta is generally considered invalid^[2].

Habitat

Swamps, dense vegetation, marshes.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes seeds and insects.
