Lorius garrulus

Location: unknown, Month YEAR.

Identification

30cm. Bright red head, dark red shoulders, green wings, yellow at bend and under wing coverts, red tail, green tipped, orange belly, grey cere, orange-red iris, orange bill, grey feet. Juvenile - dark bill and iris. Sexes alike.

Distribution

North Maluku, Indonesia.

Taxonomy

There are 3 subspecies.

Habitat

Mangrove forests.

Behaviour

The diet includes nectar, insects, buds and seeds.

They nests in hole in tall trees; 2 eggs are laid.
