12-13cm

• Olive brown above
• Pale grey below
• Pale throat
• Pale grey line above eye to bill
• Dark iris
• Blackish-brown bill surrounded by bristles

Distribution

Found in mountain ranges of north-eastern and eastern DRC, south-western Uganda and western Kenya.

Taxonomy

Formerly placed in genus Muscicapa

Subspecies^[1]

There are two subspecies:

• F. l. lendu:

• Mountains of north-eastern Zaire to south-western Uganda and western Kenya (Kakamega Forest)

• F. l. itombwensis:

• Eastern Zaire (Itombwe Mountains)

F. l. itombwensis is sometimes split as full species, Itombwe Flycatcher (or Itombwe Alseonax)^[2].

Moist montanes.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes insects.

Breeding

The nest is a deep cup made from vegetation and feathers.

Vocalisation

Call: thin, soft tsseet, tsseet and a short, buzzy trill.
