The Mascarene Islands are a group of three larger volcanic islands named Reunion Island, Mauritius Island, and Rodriques Island as well as a number of smaller volcanic remnants. They all are situated in the Western Indian Ocean, 400-500 miles northeast from southern Madagascar.
Reunion Island is a Foreign Department of France, Mauritius Island is the Republic of Mauritius, and Rodriques Island is a dependency of the Republic of Mauritius.
