South-east Asia: endemic to the Philippines.
Taxonomy
Subspecies[1]
There are 4 subspecies:
- R. c. pinicola:
- Philippines (highlands of northern Luzon)
- R. c. cyaniceps:
- Philippines (Luzon and Catanduanes)
- R. c. sauli:
- Philippines (Tablas) - sometimes recognized as full species, Tablas Fantail
- R. c. albiventris
- Philippines (Guimaras, Masbate, Negros, Panay and Ticao) - sometimes recognized as full species, Visayan Fantail
Habitat
Understory of forests up to 2000m.
