Identification

16 cm
Male: almost entirely black

  • Dark grey flanks
  • White underwing coverts

Distribution

South America: found in tropical eastern Panama (Darién) and northern Colombia

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Subspecies magdalenae is not recognised by all authorities[2]

Habitat

Humid evergreen forests, in shrubby understorey.

Behaviour

Diet

Little known, but they presumably eat insects and arthropods.
