Identification

  • Black belly and crissum
  • Grey cap
  • Red bill
  • Yellow loral spots

Distribution

Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.

Taxonomy

This is most often considered a monotypic species, however, some authorities recognize melanogaster and ochracea.

Habitat

Forest and low scrubby woodland areas.

Behaviour

It feeds in the canopy and the diet includes insects, beetles, ants and caterpillars.
