Identification
A Medium-sized (11cm) hummingbird, the only one in its range with a blue crown (male) and all-white underparts. The bill is of proportional length to the size of the bird, not exceptional, and has a slight downward curve.
Similar Species=
The White-bellied Emerald is similar, but lacks the blue crown, and can show a coppery sheen on the back in sunlight.

Central America: found in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua,
Taxonomy
This species is sometimes placed in genus Agyrtria.

Two subspecies are recognized:

Habitat
Moist montanes, oak-pine woodlands and gardens.
