Overview
Anguilla is a 35 square mile Caribbean island, and popular tourism location, in the Lesser Antilles, north of Saint Martin.
The main island is approximately 16 miles long with sandy beaches.
There are several smaller, uninhabited islands around it, some of which are Scrub, Dog, the Sombreros, and the Prickly Pear Cays.[1]
Birds
Notable Species
Anguilla is a Caribbean island with a reported 179 species of birds. Of those, a large number are considered rare, according to Avibase. [2]
The Anguillan National Bird is the Zenaida Dove (Zenaida aurita). Locally it's known as a Turtle Dove.
Offshore/Outlying island sites offer many significant bird sites, according to the Caribbean Birding Trail. [3]
