Distribution
South America: found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile.
Taxonomy
Monotypic, but considered a subspecies of Ruddy Duck Oxyura jamaicensis by some.2

Lakes, pools and marshes.
