Oxyura ferruginea

Identification

Chestnut, black head, bright blue bill with a slight bump over the nostril. 1

Distribution

Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile.

Taxonomy

Monotypic, but considered a subspecies of Ruddy Duck Oxyura jamaicensis by some.1

Habitat

Lakes, pools and marshes.
