Identification

Chestnut, black head, bright blue bill with a slight bump over the nostril.

Distribution

Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile.

Taxonomy

Monotypic, but considered a subspecies of Oxyura jamaicensis by some.

Habitat

Lakes, pools and marshes.
