Estrilda poliopareia

Identification

12 cm. Dun-coloured, red bill and rump, very fine barring on upperparts, sides of breast and flanks, pale eyes.

Distribution

Southern Nigeria.

Taxonomy

It is considered a subspecies of Estrilda paludicola by some.

Habitat

Long grass along rivers, lagoon sandbanks, marshes, swamps and forest.

Behaviour

The diet includes grass seeds taken from seedheads.

Vocalisation

Its call is a tzzzt.
