Identification

  • Black forehead, face and throat
  • Brownish-black crown
  • Green rump

Distribution

Australasia: found in South-western New Guinea (Wharton and Owen Stanley mountains)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Two subspecies are recognised by some authors: L. m. monticola and L. m. myolae[2]

Habitat

High altitude grassland.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists mostly of grass and bamboo seeds.
