Overview
A branch of the Great Rift Valley in central Africa. It defines the western border of the Democratic Republic of Congo (with Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania). The valley is edged by the Virunga, Mitumba and Ruwenzori Mountains, which constitute an important zone of endemism.
