Identification
16.5-18.5 cm. Pale grey upperparts, brown crown, underwings are mainly black, white tail with a black terminal triangle. The belly is white. Short bill.
Distribution
Eastern Afghanistan and Pakistan to India and Indochina.
Taxonomy
A monotypic species.
Habitat
Open country near water.
Behaviour
It lays 2-4 eggs in a ground scrape and breeds in gravel or sand banks in rivers.
The diet includes insects.
