Identification

Plain, round-looking heads, pale supercilium, black eye, yellow fringes to some of the wing and tail feathers, whitish underparts, pale base and lower mandible, plain grey-green back, green-toned rump and wings. The bill is small and pointed and the legs brown. The sexes are identical.


Distribution

South west Europe and north Africa, wintering in sub-Saharan Africa.

Taxonomy

Formerly considered conspecific with Eastern Bonelli's Warbler.

Habitat

Mixed woodland, especially on mountain slopes and gorges but also by the coast.

Behaviour

4-6 eggs are laid in a nest on the ground.

The diet includes insects.
