Booted Racket-tail (also known as Racket-tailed Puffleg) has been split into three species:
- White-booted Racket-tail -- Colombia, Venezuela, and west slope of the Andes in Ecuador
- Peruvian Racket-tail -- southeastern Andes of Colombia (western Putumayo, south of the upper Caquetá River), eastern Ecuador, and eastern Peru south to Huánuco (Huallaga Valley)
- Rufous-booted Racket-tail -- central and southern Peru and Bolivia
