Distribution
South America: Sierra de Perijá (border region between Colombia and Venezuela).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
This species and 15 others were previously included in a complex of Rufous Antpitta/Chestnut Antpitta.
Habitat
This species has been found at elevations of 2500 – 3250 m asl, where it is found on or near the ground of forest, second growth and similar, disturbed areas.
Behaviour
Feeding is essentially undescribed.
Vocalisation
Both long and short songs of this species consists of thrills with rapid repeats of notes.
