Identification
46-51 cm. Uniform orangey-brown upperparts with paler buff underparts streaked with brown, dark eyes and no "ears". In flight, appears orange and white, showing off pale underwings and white belly.
Distribution
Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast and Ghana.
Taxonomy
Some authorities place this species in genus Bubo (Scotopelia would then be a subgenus for the fishing owls).
Habitat
Riverine rainforest and mangroves.
